Pirate hats

"I like making pirate hats, because it is lots of fun", said Aimee.

"They are cool because they have skeletons on them", said Liam.

"LC 15 thought making pirate hats on Pirate Day would be fun", Kaela said.

Lillie-Paige made a special pirate hat for Kiwi Bear.

Pirates at work

We were a hard working lot of pirates - making treasure maps, making pirate hats, and writing descriptive pirate poems. We had so many adjectives! There were big, brave, brilliant pirates, and huge, hairy, happy pirates... just to name a few. But this gave us an enormous appetite! So soon we were looking forward to our pirate feast. Yum!

Pirate Day for LC15

LC15 all became pirates on Friday and dressed up in our pirate clothes. It was lots of fun! We read pirate books, made treasure maps, thought up lots of descriptive words about pirates, wrote pirate poems, and made pirate hats.

We had a magnificent Pirate Feast for our lunch. We were very full pirates!

Creating music

We have been creating music using instruments. Sometimes one of the children conducts instead of the teacher. We all get a turn to create music, but when it is not our turn we are the audience and we listen to decide what the music reminds us of.

We also have been sharing our learning with our Buddy Class. They taught us a body percussion routine in pairs, and then we taught a different routine to them. It was good fun.

Fun in the Autumn Leaves

Some of the comments that the children made:

We liked throwing the leaves up in the air, and watching them float down like snowflakes.

The leaves felt crunchy and like rubber.

It is easy to break the leaves up in pieces.

Some leaves were bright like the sun. They were yellow, a little bit orange, and some were red.

The leaves were smooth, and they had holes in them.

Elouise was looking to see what colours she had in her bunch of leaves.

The leaves were fluttering, floaty, and twirling. The leaves looked like stars on the ground.

They were reddy, orange like lava. Some leaves had cracks that looked like lava.

The leaves made you feel itchy. Some leaves feel like plastic.

You can make all the leaves into chairs or a volcano.

Some of the leaves were big and some were little.

We all enjoyed playing in the leaves! It was fun!

Real experiences help children to improve their descriptive language as well as being a lot of fun. We all enjoyed being out in the Autumn leaves. If you haven't had a chance yet, I could recommend it to you. It is another way you can help your child with their learning.
